The Archangel Michael 2025 commemorative silver coin celebrates the divine protector, leader of heavenly armies, and symbol of strength and faith — Archangel Michael.
Issued by the National Bank of Ukraine, this release honours one of the most spiritually powerful figures in world culture and Ukrainian iconography.

Inspired by the 17th-century Zhovkva Iconostasis created by Ivan Rutkovych, the coin embodies the union of sacred meaning and exquisite craftsmanship, merging Ukrainian Baroque artistry with deep spiritual symbolism.

Design Features

Obverse: The Royal Doors of the Zhovkva Iconostasis with a traditional prayer to Archangel Michael. Above the doors, a gilded arch symbolises the dawn — the triumph of light over darkness. The upper part features Ukraine’s coat of arms and the inscription ХТО ЯК БОГ (“Who is like God”), one of the Archangel’s most recognisable invocations. Below are inscriptions УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), 2025, the face value 10, and the hryvnia symbol.

Reverse: A detailed colour-printed image of Archangel Michael, based on Ivan Rutkovych’s original icon. Depicted in full armour, with a sword and scales, he stands on clouds as the commander of the heavenly host — a timeless symbol of courage, faith, and divine justice. The background features an intricate Baroque floral ornament inspired by Ukrainian sacred art.
