The Ukrainian Silver Archangel Michael Coins debuted in 2011 and had low mintage caps initially. The National Bank of Ukraine issued the coins in 2011 with a mintage cap of just 10,000 silver coins. The next several years saw a mintage increase as demand for silver grew. After resetting downward in 2016, the Ukrainian Silver Archangel Michael Coin has grown in demand again in recent years. The collection hit a mintage high of 40,000 coins in 2018.

On the obverse face of 2020, Ukrainian Silver Archangel Michael Coin is a depiction of the coat of arms for the nation. The Ukrainian coat of arms design found on this side is new for the 2020 release. The national shield, an elongated hexagon split diagonally, is featured in a central design with the inscription of the National Bank of Ukraine and the coin’s date mark below. Around the edge of the coin’s design field is a leaf pattern with the modern coat of arms with the trident at the top.

The reverse side of the 2020 1 oz Ukrainian Silver Archangel Michael Coin features a depiction of the archangel. Michael is considered an archangel in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and is regarded as the leading archangel who helped defeat the forces of Satan in the battle for heaven. Michael is shown here as the warrior angel with body armor on and a sword in his right hand as he stands atop a defeated dragon.
